WOW!!! Did I ever expect to find anyone else in the
universe who actually talks about "I know a little bit about being hard!". Maria
McKee has been a part of my life for so long now I forget that others have
actually purchased her albums. In this bullsh t Britney Spears/Backstreet Boys
era, it's hard to find really good music. Maria is a dream come true- one of the
greatest voices in rock history. I keep waiting for those jackasses at VH1 to
recognize her on "The List" or ANYTHING!.!.! I remember back in 1989 (was it?)
when Maria's first solo album came out. I was working three jobs. One of those
jobs was as a cashier at the magazine stand in Studio City, CA. I worked the
graveyard shift (10pm to 8am). I would BLAST that CD all over the residential
neighborhood, hoping one of those sleeping idiots would hear good music for a
change. For me, to get Maria is a simple listen:

(French...) Maria nous(me) manque en france. Le seul
album que j'ai pu trouver est "You gotta sin to get saved". J'aimerais qu'elle
soit plus diffusée dans notre beau pays. "La petite Diva" a vraiment
quelquechose en plus, un je ne sais quoi qui fait qu'elle nous man ue
énormement.

Maria Mckee's "Life is Sweet" was absolutley the best
album of 1996! I am absolutely barking stars for Maria!! She needs to keep going
in the same direction and she needs to release the new cd real soon or I'll go
stark raving loonie and my name will o from eric angel to eric devil!

One of my favorite bands is Crosby, Stills, Nash &
Young. Obviously, I like CSN and Neil Young separately also. Anyway, I saw
CSN&Y in Oakland, CA in 1974, CSN in 1990 and 1996 (Norfolk and Virginia
Beach), and Neil Young during his Solo Acoustic Tour 1 99 (Chicago). All of
these concerts were excellent, and I can't wait to hear the new CSN&Y album
and to see CSN&Y in concert in either Milwaukee or Chicago in April of 2000!
Sounds like it will be a gas, gas, gas!

the death of laura nyro completely surprised and saddened
me. she was always my favorite, since i first heard her in 1974 when my brother
brought his girlfriend home with him from college and she brought nyro albums
with her. i've not followed her career s many others have and only have a
handful of original albums. i wonder, though, about her personal life not the
one evident in her music but her home life: was she married, a mother, a lover?
do you know? where did she come from and where did she live? t ank you for
listening and for answers if you have them.

Styx..Steppenwolf..Bad Co...Rare Earth...just some fantastic old bands to listen

site www.itchycoo.com and look for updates for further concerts. I would have
just died if CSN would have appeared. My friend and I did manage to get up on
stage while Styx played. The guys still got what it takes. Take sunscreen! ....

Can anyone HELP? Trying to find the Neil Young CD "Old
Ways". Anyone know where I may be able to purchase this CD? Thanks Brad
Comments:
On the whole, I agreed with your commnets on Nanci's
work. Personal biases aside, I don't think too many people could quibble over
her all around best work and her more minor triumphs. I say triumphs because
even as a novice, she could write a better song one with heart and soul and
intelligence, than most so-called songwriters in any genre. Of course that's
just my opinion. I could be wrong--nah!

thanks..enjoyed your comments...been a laura fan since
1966....saw her in concert 6 times..and was at that Nightstage concert in
Cambridge too... To me, New York Tenderberry WAS her masterpiece...found all her
albums after "Christmas" fairly mediocre..but always LOVED hearing that
voice!

Hi Nanci, I have enjoyed Nanci's music for about 15

I felt like I lost a friend when Laura Nyro died. I miss
her talent and I think she had more to tell us. I only got to see her live once

world will carry on but not with th same passion.

Nanci's pure and believeable music and lyrics have
carried me through peaceful as well as tough times. I am thankful for her gentle
spirit present in each song she sings. "These Days in an Open Book" is my

I have been a hugh fan of Maria's since I first saw her
on the Tonight Show, when her first solo album was released. I have been a
raving loon for her ever since. I saw her twice, here in Chicago. The first time
was in the fall of 93, and the second time as on the ides of March (15th) of
96.I was completely blown away both times. Can anyone out there PLEASE help me
to locate that hard to find CD called Absolutely Barking? When I first read
about it over a year ago in ICE I tried and tried to find a copy but I just
could not track one down. Prehaps someone out there in the great beyond could
sell me a copy or even a cassette of theres. PLEASE! I think it's a dirty shame
that Maria does'nt have a recording contract at this time. What are those peopl
thinking of? Lets hope for the best and that something will happen soon. I would
like to wish her and her fiance,(husband?), all the best, and to tell her that I
was very sorry to hear of her brothers passing. Please take care, you are missed
Maria. (847-692-7570)

I just read your 10 "must have" Neil recordings review
and I think number 11 should be the Echoes at Princeton Landing. Very LIVE and
recorded I would say in the A- sound. Two separate cds',one single and the other
double. I've got R&R Cowboy and it is a reasure, is'nt it? I've also got
some videos of the Bridge and another show in that town in Calif. that is famous
for onions...with Booker-T. Both excellent. I think Geronimo himself has jumped
into Neil Youngs' soul and is having a heyday with that Canuc ! Eh? Glad I'm
living in these lives and times! Keep up the great site! Nice redo of the whole
mix by the way! See ya!

I just happened across this site, and was pleasantly
surprised that Ms. Mckee is still around. I bought the Lone Justice compilation
a couple of months ago and I can't thank the band enough for getting it out to
us fans. I first saw Lone Justice open fo Tom Petty (1985)in Norman, Oklahoma. I
had never heard of them until that night. I bought their debut album the next
morning, and still have it. I have spread the word about the band and the solo
albums (have them all) from lovely Maria to all. I hop and pray she catches on
again, because I will buy the new album without listening to a note beforehand.
I have always been 100 percent confident that Maria would only turn out quality
work, and I have never been disappointed. Good luck.

I have followed Maria Mckee since stumbling across Lone
Justice as a 15 year old. It's a disgrace that the best female vocalist of the
last 20 years does not currently have a recording contract. My own memories of
Maria Mckee are watching a completely wil live performance I think on a TV show
called The Tube, which scared the life out of me!!! Also laughing my head off
when she appeared on a TV pop panel show very drunk after being plied with drink
by a fellow panelist before the recording. I wore out her first solo album, but
for me my favourite track was called 'Sweetest Child' that was produced by Youth
that I have on 12 inch. The accapella version is stunning!! My one wish is to
see her live in concert singing Panic Beach. Here's hoping!!

Hi Old Grey Cat, friends and NY fans, thanks for a truly
interesting and comprehensive site relating to Neil and his prolific output. I
assure you I shall visit this site more than once in the future. It was
interesting to read yor comments about Prisoners Of Rock'n'Roll in the bootleg
section. I have this swinging Pig product on vinyl in a triple format. Each disc
is a different colour; red, white and blue. I would be interested to know if
there is an body else out there who has a copy and where they got their hands on
it. Mine was purchased in Germany about six years ago for 45 D.marks (about £15
UK). Keep on rocking in the free world, Boris.

Hi there, 'Cat! Just thought I'd leave my mark here. I
came here via a link thru "Yahoo" looking for Neil Young stuff. My Dad was a big
Neil Young man. He died last year of cancer, and I have felt it time to 'pick up
the slack' for him in a music-memorial sense. I was always a bigger Genesis fan,
but still liked some of ol' Neil's better electric stuff (I admit "Unpl gged is
pretty good, but I just prefer the thicker 'big rock' sound of Neil + Crazy
Horse). Dad collected all Neil's albums (bar about 2 I think) on LP record, and
I have started my own modest little collection on CD. As I said, mainly electric
stuff, and mai ly Neil with Crazy Horse. I so far 'inherited' from Dad copies of
"Unplugged", "Broken Arrow" and "Year Of The Horse". I also now have "LIVE
RUST", "Weld" and "Sleeps With Angels". As a special moment, I also managed to
catch the "Year Of The Horse" movie. Pretty top stuff, too! Thanks especially
for the (always interesting) bootleg lists. Amazing how many boots are out
there.... My fave Neil Young album that I've heard? when I was a lot younger,
probably "Hawks And Doves". Lately, I really think "Weld" kicks butt and "LIVE
RUST" offers a nice splice between semi-acoustic and electric on the same set. I
look forward to returning here again. Thanks Cat. BC

Super Session is one of my biggest favourites of all

told me that if the album had belonged to he it would still be in mint
condition!!!!! She's right!!! Great to see Super Session has a site all of it's

pop into my head when I' doing something I truly enjoy, and the phrasing she

once, it's like each song is many songs. Nested" is wonderful. Nyro's

expressing it. Send your love out to the planets, because "all are one".

Great page! For the most part, I support your reviews of
Nanci's albums, especially Flyer. It's my favorite, too. On Grafton Street is my
favorite song there, with These Days in an Open Book a close second. I recently
copied Flyer, as well as some var ous other Nanci wonderfuls for a friend, and
he loves it! It's really great fun to spread "The Gospel of Griffith" amongst
the heathens. If you're interested, I have a few Nanci items from radio shows,
and some unrecorded stuff that isn't listed under "Rarities" These weren't
released as albums, I'm not sure where they're from, but they're excellent
songs. E-mail me. -Kristina

neil young bootleg section is outstanding. but how could
anyone review "Last of Dying Breed" so poorly? complaining about bonus tracks
added to such a great show is like panning a resturant due to bad mints at the
coat room. the combination of u believabl sound and terrific performances makes
"Breed" the ultimate souvenier of the International Harvester days. Hasn't your
critic ever used his/her program button on the cd player? Except for this
obvious error, your "board of editors" ar really accurate on the picks and pans
of neil's bootleg library. thanks for the great time on the web!

The music of Nanci Griffith is far superior to 98% of the
rest of the music industry. She is the best kept secret in music today.
Incredibly, when I was collecting all of Nanci's albums, whenever I would take
the CD to check out the salesperson would always comment on how great she
was--it was almost like they and I were sharing this remarkable 'secret' that
the rest of the world wasn't in on. She is absolutely "THE BEST!"

Love the site, I have spent a lot of time looking for
Nanci bootlegs, but have never found any. I would love to get one of her British

you can help it would be appreciated. I first saw Nanci live at the time of Last
of the True Believers album, and have seen her many times over the years,
including twice at the Cambridge Folk Festival, and these are recorded,by the
BBC, so there must be tapes in existance, of these performan es. One track is
currently available on a Cambridge folk festival compilation.

I have been a fan of Nanci's forever. I have several
authographed albums and have had the opportunity of front row seating and
afterward at the Birchmere in Virgina many times. I just want more. She sings
the songs, the pain, the dreams of my heart.

I picked up Life is Sweet after reading a great review of
it in the Phladelphia Inquirer. I thought it might be a stretch for me, but I
can honestly say I was not dissappointed in the least. Maria Has a Very Powerful
Voice and her melodies have a hypnotizing affect on me. I'm Glad to add Maria to
my Collection... sTeVe
